Mom Picks: Monthly Gift Packages

By Courtney Williams, 2008 Baby Boot Camp Franchise Owner of the Year & Leadership Coach

I am always looking for fun and different gifts and happened to find some sites that offered some great monthly gifts.

Citrus Lane and Bluum

I remember how after having a child, I always wanted to try all the new products that were available for me and my baby but realized to do this was very expensive.  Well, citruslane.com  and bluum.com offer you this opportunity:  They deliver monthly gift boxes designed for new moms and children from newborn to age 3.  Each box contains four to five “best of” products or wellness samples, which fit a seasonal theme.  Prices begin at $11 a month.

Gift Lit

The web site giftlit.com allows you to purchase books for babies up to adults.  You purchase the amount of months you want them to receive gifts, and each month they will receive one book.  This is a great way to bring the love of reading to families.  Pricing begins at $24.95.

Kiwi Crate

For those children (ages 3-7) that have everything, this is the ultimate gift. Just imagine their surprise when the door bell rings and there is a box just waiting for them, and inside are fun crafts for them to do which have been created around a theme.  In addition to the gift packages, kiwicrate.com offers opportunities for further learning on their site for each theme.  These boxes start at $19.95 a month for endless fun.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

I was in 2nd grade at Holy Cross Catholic School, Euclid Ohio. We were suppose to make a bird house over the weekend. My dad wanted to help me make one using the bark off of a tree covering the outside of it. I hated it! It looked so different from everyone else “painted” bird houses….But my teacher loved it and I won the prize for “best bird house” – I couldn’t wait to get home and tell my Dad. Then I loved it

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

I’m really excited to see what you’ve found. I need to see something for my husband and something for my mum, they are the two people who are hardest to buy for. The boys are easy, they let me know what they want months in advance

My favorite memories have been the time spent in the KITCHEN with my dad. He taught me all of his tricks of the trade from baking the fluffiest rolls to cooking a juicy pot roast.I never realized until I was older (and married) how incredibly rare it is to find a man who can not just cook, but cook delicious food. Because of him My pride and joy is cooking and something I am “known” for.How many women can say,” I’m the cook I am today because of my DAD!!” ?Thanks dad!

Once I went to work on the farm with my dad. Unexpectedly, he needed to move a tractor a few miles down the road but had no one to drive his pick-up behind him. So he had me (age 7 at the time) get in. After a quick explanation of how a STICK SHIFT works, I assured him I was ready. Wrong! I ended up driving an extra few miles down the road until I could turn around without having to shift gears, all the while freaking out! About 3/4 of the way back, there he was… on his way to find me. Needless to say, I didn’t drive alone for quite some time.

a John Wayne was an officer, uluasly a Lieutenant fresh out of ROTC, who wanted to win medals rather than keep his men alive. he was a rough rider , ordering suicidal charges, always volunteering for the most dangerous missions. he treated the military like nothing else existed, and looked down on and ridiculed those who did not. he typically believed that he could never be killed, I.E. how John Wayne was never killed in his films.
