- What is Baby Boot Camp?
Baby Boot Camp is a fitness program focused on the needs of pre-
and post-natal women. Our fitness classes are designed specifically
for pre- and post-natal women of any fitness level and incorporate
your newborn baby into the class format, enabling you to bond
with your baby as well as other supportive moms. Taught by
nationally certified fitness professionals, Baby Boot Camp
focuses on strength-training exercises with cardiovascular
drills to target all major muscle groups. Our prenatal classes
help prepare you for childbirth and the rigors of newborn care,
while our post-partum classes focus on increasing your strength
and general fitness level. Pregnant women must provide written
consent from their doctor or midwife to participate in physical
activity. Moms must be at least 6 weeks postpartum to participate.
- What do I need to bring
to class?
Bring water and a towel, mat or waterproof blanket suitable for
exercising on the grass. A supportive exercise bra is highly
recommended. Bring your baby in an all-purpose stroller or jogger.
For Outdoor Baby Boot Camp we recommend a stroller cover
designed to protect your baby from the sun, wind and light rain
or mist. You can purchase one to fit your stroller at www.joggingstroller.com or at your local children’s retailer for as little as $15.00.
You may also want to bring sunscreen, a hat, snacks and an extra
layer of clothing for both you and your baby. Instructors do
not carry cash, so if you don’t pay online, please bring
a check or exact change.
- How old should
my baby be?
Your baby can attend class anywhere from 6 weeks old and up.
Infants should have adequate neck support, which is provided
in their infant car seat or in a fully-reclined stroller. For
jogging strollers that do not recline, you can purchase infant
neck supports. You must have medical clearance from your doctor
or midwife to participate in physical activity. Generally, if
your baby or toddler is content in a moving stroller for 1 hour,
you should have no problem participating in class.
- What if my baby
gets fussy?
Your baby is your first priority. Our outdoor classes will follow
an “out-and-back” route, with several benches and
grassy areas along the way. Please feel free to stop and nurse,
feed, change and soothe your baby how only you know best. Please
advise the instructor or another student of your plans. Don’t
worry about “bothering” other class participants.
That’s the beauty of Baby Boot Camp!
- How do I register?
Your first class is free. Please visit our new student
registration page. Fill out the online form and you will
receive an email from the local franchise owner confirming your
class date and location. Or call your local franchise owner to
reserve your spot! Although you can simply show up for class,
we advise you to register or call beforehand to confirm that
space is available. Please ensure that you show up at least 10
minutes prior to the start time for your first class to meet
the instructor and complete your registration form.
After taking your first class, you can sign-up for classes by
purchasing
classes online with
a credit card. You may also complete a paper based registration
form and mail it, with a check, to your local Baby Boot Camp
franchise owner. Follow the directions from our registration
page to choose your payment option and register for class. It’s
important to pre-register to reserve your spot. Class sizes are
limited. If the session has already begun, please call your local
Baby Boot Camp franchise owner to confirm that space is available.
Note that for some locations, class registration and reservation
will need to be through the facility where the Baby Boot Camp
classes are held. These locations are advised on our website.
- Do I have to
purchase a package?
No. It is most cost effective to purchase a package of classes,
but you are always welcome to purchase a single class if space
is available. If you would like to attend class on a drop-in
basis, a reservation is required 60 minutes before class start
time. Make your drop-in reservation by calling your local Baby Boot Camp franchise owner. Once you have purchased a package
you will be able to reserve your spot in a specific class. If
a class reaches maximum enrollment, it will be noted on the website
schedule and no drop-ins will be allowed. Each package is valid
only for the current session. Instructors do not carry cash,
so please pay online or bring a check or exact change.
- I'm new. How
do I make a reservation?
For their first class, new students can register
online or call
their local Baby Boot Camp phone number at least 60 minutes
before class start time to request a space in that class. New
students need to leave a message with their name, phone number,
and the class location and time they wish to attend. Students
will only receive a phone call back if the class is full. Returning
students can also make phone reservations if they have not previously
registered for a class over the web.
Note that for some locations,
class registration and reservation will need to be through the
facility where the Baby Boot Camp classes are held. These
locations are advised on our website.
- What if the weather
is poor?
• Dress yourself and your baby in layers.
• Bring a stroller
cover designed for protection in the chance of light rain and
wind.
• Baby Boot Camp is rarely cancelled. In the event
of heavy rain class may be canceled. Call your local Baby Boot
Camp phone number for details 30 minutes prior to class start
time.
• If you have purchased a multiple class package
and your class is cancelled due to weather you must call your
local Baby Boot Camp phone number with-in one hour of the start
time of class to receive a class credit valid for 60 days. No
Phone Call = No Rain Check. Rain-checks will not be given if
you have an unlimited class package.
- You give us homework?
When you attend Baby Boot Camp, your instructor will provide
you with a list of functional and strengthening exercise to do
on the days you do not attend Baby Boot Camp. Each exercise
takes less than 5 minutes and often enables you to incorporate
your baby into the exercise. You will be given 2 new homework
exercises each week. Homework is not mandatory, but certainly
encouraged.
- How do I contact my
local franchise owner?
At the bottom of each Locations page you will find your local
franchise owner’s contact information.
- How can I make the
most of Baby Boot Camp?
Here are some tips to help you maximize your Baby Boot Camp experience:
• Food Please eat a nutritious breakfast and bring a snack to class.
•
Water Bring
it to class and drink it often.
•
Rest You are more prone to injury if you are
not well rested. Finding the time to rest is as important as eating well and
exercising, even if it means just putting your feet up for 10 minutes.
•
Clothing Dress yourself and your baby in layers. Bring a stroller cover for sun, wind
and rain protection. If your baby is warm and dry, you are more likely to get
a great workout in.
•
Focus Your instructors are committed to provide you with
a safe, fun and challenging workout at any fitness level. In return, we ask that
you commit to be here mentally and physically.
•
Have fun You can stay focused,
work hard, and still have fun.
- How often
do I need to come to class?
To see the greatest improvement in your current fitness level, we recommend that
you attend Baby Boot Camp classes 3-4 times per week for your first 12 weeks.
Homework exercises are strongly encouraged in addition to increased water consumption
and daily physical activity.
If you would like additional support and training
to reach your fitness goals, we recommend setting up a private session with one
of our instructors. All Baby Boot Camp instructors are certified fitness
professionals. You can review your instructor’s certifications or talk
to your local instructor for additional information.
- Can I bring
a friend or family member to class?
Generally, one family member is welcome to attend class FREE when accompanied
by a paying Baby Boot Camp student. Please confirm with your local franchise
owner prior to showing up at class to confirm.
- Is Baby Boot Camp safe for pregnant women as well as new moms?
Yes. The structure of all Baby Boot Camp classes follows the guidelines
set by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Council
on Exercise. In addition to being trained and certified by Baby Boot Camp, instructors
are required to have one or more current group exercise or personal trainer certification
from a nationally recognized organization such as the American Council on Exercise,
Aerobics and Fitness Association of America or the American College of Sports
Medicine.
Pregnant women may participate for the duration of their pregnancy
with a physician’s note and the absence of any contra-indications. Moms
must be at least 6 weeks postpartum to participate; 8 weeks postpartum for c-section.
Consult with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
- Do I need
to bring any special fitness equipment?
No special equipment is required. Your instructor will provide you with a resistance
tube to use during class. Bring a towel, yoga mat or waterproof blanket for abdominal
work and stretching. For Level 1 classes, you can use an all-purpose or jogging-style
stroller. For safety reasons, we encourage you to use a true jogging stroller
for Level 2 classes, and some of our Level 2 classes are specifically restricted
to true jogging strollers. Learn more about stroller selection
and safety.
- Do I have
to be a member to attend Baby Boot Camp classes?
No. You can attend your first class free without becoming a member. If you wish
to attend additional classes you will automatically be enrolled as a Baby Boot Camp member, and you will have your own member account on www.babybootcamp.com.
