Mom Picks: Beach Day!

Posted by: Samm Davidson, Owner & Instructor on Monday, July 18, 2016

Taking two boys (3 and 1) to the beach is no easy feat. I could write a novel on all the toys, food, sunscreen products, and other essentials that we usually have in tow, but I won't bore you with all of that. Here are a few of my faves, for my fellow beach-goers (especially you boy moms!)...

Lands End Extra Large Tote

Cute, cheap, and functional! This is the perfect sized bag for beach moms and will hold everything from towels and diapers to extra clothes and toys.  It is also pretty soft and flexible unlike some other brands which I find to be really stiff. It comes in a variety of great colors--I'm partial to the gold, because why not get a little fancy when you can, right?  Head over to, pick a color, add a monogram, and next think you know you are the cute trendy mom on the beach for less than $40!

Zutano Sun Hat
I'm just going to say it--so many baby beach hats are just lame! Now I don't want my little guy to get a sunburn, but I also don't want him looking like a cartoon character. This is the perfect hat for both cuteness and sun protection! And it's also the only one that he doesn't rip off his head :)  Grab one here for $20.

Zara Swim Shorts
Anyone else feelin' a little European this summer?! I am a big fan of tight bottoms on my little guys. So while they are still young enough to let me pick out their clothes, there will be no board shorts at my house! It's teeny, tiny, leg-bearing suits for these dudes! Zara has the best mini surf shorts and brief swim trunks for our little men. And they are cheap (most less than $10)! (I shop here all year for their pants too, sorry boys!)

Baby Powder
No more sandy feet! After a long day at the beach with kids it is usually near impossible not to take at least a third of the sand home with you in your car. But bring a container of baby powder and sprinkle some on any sand infested areas of your kids and they will be sand free for the ride home! (Of course, don't use too much, and avoid their face. Don't want them breathing any of that in!)
Good luck, mamas!  Enjoy the sunshine!

I'm looking to get some Zara swim shorts (we usually get Mini Boden but I'm not loving their patterns this year) how do you feel like they run size wise?
